John Hoffman
John Hoffman is the CEO of Hoffman Analytic Services, Inc., dba Alloway Environmental Testing and founder of the Inquiry Based Learning Institute. John has an Associates degree in Business Administration from Northwestern Business College, a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and Master’s degree in Zoology from Miami University. His Master’s degree was through the Global Field Master’s program centered on inquiry-based learning and community-based conservation. John became involved in this program after participating in the Earth Expedition field course to Costa Rica. Since then he has completed five field expeditions. These programs incorporate community-based conservation and inquiry-based learning. John embraced the concepts of inquiry-based learning so much so that inquiry has become part of his leadership challenge at Miami University, and he co-founded the IBL Institute. He purchased Alloway in 1982 and throughout his career has been engaged in environmental analysis. He has also been involved with laboratory and analyst professional development through various training programs. He routinely speaks on environmental analysis, as well as community-based conservation. He is a member of many professional organizations, including the Ohio Water Environment Association, the American Water Works Association, and the WEF Crystal Crucible Society. He has been awarded the Department of Biological Sciences Award of merit for Exceptional Efforts in Support of the Environmental Studies Program at Ohio Northern University.
